Job DescriptionThe Accountant II is responsible for maintaining the fixed asset system, recording appropriate general ledger journal entries, and processing of all fixed asset activity (additions, disposals, etc.). The position supports department leaders in the capital process, ensures capital policies are followed and is liaison between accounting and purchasing for fixed asset information as needed. Additionally, the Accountant II is responsible for recording general ledger entries for certain payroll-related activity, budgeting, account reconciliations, and preparation of audit support. This position is responsible for a number of financial software systems
Responsibilities- Handles all accounting functions with minimal supervision. Includes general ledger journal entries, balance sheet review and reconciliation, and expense budget to actual variance analysis.
- Prepares schedules and analysis for various items including, but not limited to, audits, cash draws and budgets.
- Owns all aspects of the Asset Management system (fixed assets), including reconciliation between Asset Management and the general ledger.
- Assists and provides guidance for capital expense requisition (CER) processing.
- Records monthly entries related to fixed assets, and entries for assigned payroll-related activity.
QualificationsMinimum Education- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Must have working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Must have full working knowledge of budget preparation and account reconciliations.
- Must be willing to adjust personal schedule to meet division objectives and have the ability to work independently and easily transition to cover and fill as needed.
- Experience with Oracle ERP system is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively utilize a personal computer with Intermediate skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office products. Excel skills to include pivot tables, vlookups, and ability to work with large datasets to extract needing information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
