Job DescriptionThe Patient Care Technician II through communication, requisitioning and management of supplies and equipment, coordinates the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician, other hospital departments and visitors. This position performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
Responsibilities- Acts as resource person to patients, families, nursing staff, and support services in the unit.
- Receives and directs phone calls and serves as the receptionist for the department. Answers call buttons.
- Uses computer system to locate orders, retrieve patient information, call STAT and cancel orders, and print daily census. Follow "Down Time" procedures.
- Operates order communication system.
- Files reports and necessary forms in patient charts.
- Communicates and assist with the transferring and discharging patients to notify appropriate area.
- Orders supplies and services for the unit.
- Operates a variety of office equipment effectively.
QualificationsMinimum Education- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Minimum Work Experience- 6 months Experience in a Health Care Related Field Required
Licenses and Certifications- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
- Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Effective communication skills especially in high emotion, high stress, and high intensity situations.
- Customer service-oriented and proactive at meeting customer's needs.
