The Recreational Therapist in the Behavioral Medicine Department works with patients to provide leisure opportunities, leisure education and addresses overcoming any leisure barriers the patient may have that hinders a balanced, healthy lifestyle. The incumbent is responsible for providing all supplies and equipment for the units related to recreational therapy and maintaining expenses within budget parameters. The Recreational Therapist works as a member of the interdisciplinary team to assure recreational therapy groups are addressing individual treatment needs of patients. The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or higher with concentration in recreational therapy is required.
- One (1) year work experience is required. May consider internship experience in lieu of one year of work experience.
- BLS through American Heart Association. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification is required.
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) obtained during orientation.Knowledge of abuse reporting regulations/protocols and reports as indicated.
